Combining an explosive sound with onstage charisma, panache and swagger, the band has attitude to spare, personifying the grace, cool, devil-may-care aura of the swinging 50s and 60s, 70s disco and 80s pop and rock.
Bluetrain is a six piece ALL LIVE band fronted by some of Melbourne's most in demand musicians.
The band can also play as a seven, eight, nine or 10 piece with a focus on sophisticated and quality live production.
Bluetrain are a dynamic act, leaders of excellence in corporate and party entertainment.
Inspired by and dedicated to the sounds of yesteryear, Bluetrain breathe new life into classic hits.
Bluetrains influences are extensive including the best from the past five decades including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Blood Sweat and Tears, Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5, Tom Jones, Lionel Richie, The Doobie Brothers, James Brown and Jamiroquai to name a few.
Drawing from each of these influences enables the band to produce a sound that is inventive, lively and inimitable.

The Band
Vocals
An evening with Joe Salanitri is a major dramatic and musical event. His unique combination of carefree charm and late night intimacy infuses the vintage gems to which his velvet voice is best suited.
Relaxed, funny, but always the consummate professional, the warm sensuality of his voice combined with an enormous stage presence captivates audiences with a winning style and just a touch of mystery.
Guitar
Damian Cafarella is a professional guitarist from Melbourne who has played and performed with some of Australia's finest musicians and producers including: Paul Brandoli (CultureShock/Wonderland), Sam Pannetta (Melodic Music Group/Kylie Minogue), Milly Edwards (top 10 Australian Idol), Malcolm Sedergreen, Marcus Ryan and Andrew Wrigglesworth (Spargo).
Saxophone
Sam Boon has recently completed a major in Improvisation at the Victorian College of the Arts. A heavyweight in Melbourne's competitive music scene, Boon is in demand as a session musician, composer, and arranger and plays with some of Melbourne's hottest acts.
Drums
Matt Gibson is among Melbourne's most sought after drummers. Completing a Bachelor of Music in NSW, Gibson is currently undertaking further study at the Victorian College of the Arts. Having played at some of the country's finest venues and festivals, Gibson drives Bluetrain from the back.
Piano
Shannon Deery began playing piano at age five with his style and musical complexity heavily influenced by big band pianists including Ken Lane and Henry Mancini. He has studied under the tutelage of Australian jazz great Bob Sedergreen, and has been with Bluetrain since the start more than 8 years ago.
Double Bass
William Meeve has been playing both electric and double bass as part of numerous acts in some of the finest venues both in Melbourne and around Australia since 1999. Having enjoyed supporting various jazz, funk, latin, big band, and pop artists, Meeve brings the bottom end of Bluetrain to life.

Dear Bluetrain,
Apologies for the lateness of this email, but better late than never! We just wanted to say a really big thank you for the performance that you guys put in at our reception. You may remember the reception--it was the Irish wedding in Florian in Elsternwick on Sept. 28th. You guys really made the reception and we were amazed at how you managed to get literally everybody up to dance that night. Also, we're very grateful for the fact that you happily let some of the guests up to 'sing' some songs. It really made for a great atmosphere. YOur choice of songs was fantastic and your willingness to go with the flow--even playing through some of your scheduled breaks was greatly appreciated and most generous. A number of people commented to us afterwards that you were the best wedding band that they had ever heard, and these comments came from people who had been to many weddings, in many different countries, and are series music lovers. Some, in fact, have asked us for your details for their or their friend's weddings and we have only been too happy to pass these on.
We had a number of glitches in other aspects of our wedding preparation to do with the reception venue not being entirely honest with us but our dealings with you guys were refreshing simple, straighforward, hassle-free, and professional. We didn't have to worry at all about the music since the moment we booked you and that was a great relief.

These previews are held every 2-3 weeks and
go for approximately 30 minutes to enable you to
hear the band live.

How much should I expect to pay?
Our fees are dependent on the location of the event as well as other factors. Please contact us for a quote specific to your event.
What do I get?
Our standard package generally includes either 3 x 50 minute sets or 4 x 40 minute sets.
How far will the band travel?
There are no limits on the areas we cover. Experienced travellers, the band is based in Melbourne and your quote will take into account our travel expenses and time.
Do the band require food and/or drink?
Please consider that the band members are often away from home for some time when setup time, playing time and packing-down time are all taken into account. If you cannot or would prefer not to provide a meal and drinks for the band, please let us know and we will factor this into our quote.
Is a changing room required?
If possible, we will require a room to change in where possible. The room should comfortably accommodate six people and should be available for the duration of the event.
How much time does the band need to setup equipment?
Depending on the size of the venue, we may require up to two hours to setup and soundcheck equipment.
For smaller venues an hour and a half is more than adequate.
If the band are required to arrive earlier than two hours prior to the start of the main performance, then additional fees may apply.
What happens in breaks, and before and after the music?
Background music is supplied by Bluetrain Entertainment whenever the band is not playing live.
When do you get to the venue?
The band arrives no earlier than two hours before the function start time.
What if I want the band earlier, or to play later?
This can be arranged at an additional cost.
Do I need a DJ?
We now offer a disco package with a 5000 song playlist professionally mixed on laptop, including disco lights. Please enquire about this when booking.
Will you send me a CD or can I see the band live?
We do not send out cd's, please call or email us to arrange to book into our next preview evening.

Bluetrain is a fully self contained live band, supplying all sound and lighting equipment as part of the standard entertainment package.
We pride ourselves on the quality and condition of our equipment, ensuring that reliability is maintained and giving you important peace of mind.
Much of the equipment is regularly replaced and updated with equipment as used by top touring professionals.
All electrical equipment is regularly checked by a qualified electrician and meets all relevant safety requirements.
WHAT WE OFFER
No two sets are ever the same. Every set is based upon audience reaction or decided with the client in advance.
Bluetrain can be increased in size by adding a female vocalist or anything up to a three piece brass section.
Bluetrain will supply you with a relaxed jazz to kick off the night.
Varied and extensive experience of all types of corporate and private functions.
Bluetrain will make all technical and logistical arrangements with your venue.
A dedicated professional Mackie PA system delivers a crisp clear sound at a level to suit you and your guests.
Bluetrains intelligent moving light system creates a fantastic atmosphere on stage and on the dance floor.
